Take a Stand on World Cancer Day, Saturday, February 4, 2012
Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) and the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) announced a long-term alliance today, with a multi-platform collaborative campaign in support of World Cancer Day on Saturday, February 4, 2012. Issuing a global call to action, both organizations are asking the worldwide online community to raise awareness, fight cancer and take a stand at WorldCancerDay.SU2C.org.

Actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens has donated the Candie’s Couture dress she wore at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards for a public charity auction on eBay to benefit Stand Up To Cancer. Mike Sweeney Leads “Sween Team” at Major League Baseball
Five-time Royals All-Star Mike Sweeney has created the “Sween Team” to participate in the third All-Star Game Charity 5K & Fun Run presented by Nike, which will take place on Sunday, July 8 in downtown Kansas City. Sweeney plans to participate in the event and is inviting fans to sign up here to be part of the “Sween Team”. MLB will donate all net proceeds from the event to three charities supporting cancer research and awareness - Prostate Cancer Foundation, Stand Up To Cancer and the Greater Kansas City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Stand Up To Cancer And Melanoma Research Alliance Announce Dream Team
Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), the Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA) and SU2C’s scientific partner, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), today announced a new Dream Team dedicated to melanoma research. Jeffrey M. Trent, Ph.D., and Patricia M. LoRusso, D.O., will lead the Dream Team project entitled “Personalized Medicine for Patients with BRAF Wild-Type (BRAFwt) Cancer.”

MLB All-Star Game Charity 5k & Fun Run Presented By Nike Benefiting Cancer Charities Returns In 2012
Major League Baseball today announced the third All-Star Game Charity 5K & Fun Run presented by Nike, which will take place on Sunday, July 8, 2012. The campaign continues to raise funds for groundbreaking cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives.
