E-Commerce Promotion Coming this Holiday Season to Continue Fundraising Efforts

Visit www.facebook.com/mastercardPurchase, NY and Los Angeles – September 21, 2012 – MasterCard Worldwide announced today that the company has reached its goal of raising $4 million for Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) through its Dine and Be Generous campaign. During the program, which launched at the Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game in July, MasterCard made a donation to SU2C every time cardholders spent $10 or more for a meal on their MasterCard cards.

“We are thankful to everyone who participated in Dine and Be Generous; from our cardholders to our bank and restaurant partners, we could not have hit our $4 million goal without their generosity,” said MasterCard Group Executive of US Market Development Craig Vosburg. “This program is one way that we help our cardholders and restaurant partners come together to stand up for such a valuable cause simply through their everyday activities. Over the past three years, MasterCard has contributed nearly $10 million to support SU2C’s efforts to raise funds for research and help find a cure to end cancer.”

To acknowledge the millions of consumers who helped contribute to this over $4 million donation, MasterCard will debut a “thank you” spot during the broadcast of the 2012 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series. In addition, MasterCard Worldwide will make an on-field donation presentation to SU2C to signify the culmination of the Dine and Be Generous campaign. To further fundraising efforts, MasterCard will also unveil an E-commerce extension of the program during the holiday shopping season which will raise additional funds and awareness for Stand Up To Cancer. More details will be announced later this fall.

“We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of MasterCard, which has made supporting cancer research as simple as going out to dinner,” said SU2C co-founder Sue Schwartz. “Our effort to get new and better treatments to patients as quickly as possible could not happen without the company’s dedication, passion and generosity. Each year, MasterCard and its cardholders have proven that every precious penny counts in the fight against cancer.”
